Tool tips are insidious. We’ve somehow designed them so that they never appear when you try to summon them, but they won’t go away when they’re in your way.
I once had to write code to do tool tips on Mac and Windows and with support for multiple monitors. It’s frustrating when you take the time and effort to do a little task like that right but nobody else seems to. Worse, I probably let myself be influenced by that and be more likely to not do the best I can as often anymore.
